Don’t Sell the Ferrari
A humorous guide to Practical Vedanta (and a Squirrel named Chunky)

We’ve all heard the heartwarming, inspirational tale of the monk who sold his Ferrari. As the story goes, he got rid of the expensive sports car because it represented a “Worldly Possession,” which is spiritual code for “A Vehicle That Is Dearer To You Than Your First-Born.” For millennia, the Spiritual Experts have been telling us that material possessions lead to attachment, and that attachment leads to pain and grief. Some have even told us that the only way to achieve True Enlightenment is to abandon our lives, move to a damp, unheated cave with terrible Wi-Fi, and eat nothing but roots and berries for the rest of our lives.
I am here to tell you that this is all too dramatic and completely unnecessary.
